Q:   How can I apply to open an account at Capital & Credit Securities Ltd?

A:   Visit our offices at 18 Trafalgar Road, Kingston or 25 Church Street, Montego Bay and speak with a Client Relations Officer who will guide you through the process. Please ensure that you have a valid national identification (Drivers Licence/Voter’s ID) and your Tax Registration Number (T.R.N)

Q:  Can I open an account without going in to Capital & Credit Securities Ltd?

A:  Yes. If you are unable to visit our branch offices, we will send you the documents for opening an  account. These documents should be notarized and stamped by a Justice of the Peace, a Notary Public or an Attorney-at-Law.

Q:  If I am not able to visit any of your branches how will I be able to deposit funds to, or withdraw from my account?

A:   If you wish to withdraw funds from your account, you may send us your signed instructions via fax. We will send the funds to your account at any commercial bank near you. For deposits to your account at CCSL, you can lodge the funds to our account at NCB or BNS and fax the deposit slip to us for confirmation. We will then credit your account.

Q:   How can I purchase stocks through Capital & Credit Securities Ltd?

A:   Capital & Credit Securities Ltd. has a team of competent research analysts who will guide your investment decisions. In order to purchase stocks, you may lodge funds in a trading account and visit one of our offices at 18 Trafalgar Road in Kingston, or 25 Church Street, Montego Bay. Q:   Can I purchase stocks from other stock exchanges outside of Jamaica through Capital & Credit Securities Ltd?

A:    At this time Capital & Credit does not facilitate the purchase of stocks on other exchanges. At CCSL we provide services for stocks listed only on the Jamaica Stock Exchange.

Q:   Is there a minimum number of stocks one has to purchase?

A:   The minimum number of stocks you can purchase through CCSL is 100 units.

Q:   How much money do I need to purchase stocks?

A:   The price of each stock is different so the minimum amount of money needed to purchase stocks depends on the stock you want to purchase. You will also have to include the applicable fees for each stock trade. Click here to use our stock trading calculator and find the cost to execute a trade.

Q:   What are the different types of stocks available?

A:   Two types of stocks trade on the Jamaica Stock Exchange - ordinary shares and preference shares. These stocks can be classified into a number of different groups: Banking and Financial Services, Manufacturing, Communication, Tourism, Trading, Conglomerates, Insurance and Other Services.

Q:   How do I make money on the Stock Market?

A:   You make money in the stock market when you buy stocks at a particular price and sell them back at a higher price. If you buy a stock at $1.00 and the stock price increases to $5.00 you have made an unrealized gain of $4.00. If you sell the stock at $5.00 you have realized that gain and made a profit of $4.00.

Q:   Can I purchase stocks on line locally?

A:   At this time there is no facility in place to trade stocks on the Jamaica Stock Exchange using the internet.

Q:   Do I get a share certificate when I purchase stocks?

A:   When stocks are purchased you do not receive a stock certificate. Your stock certificate is held in safekeeping for you at the Jamaica Central Securities Depository (JCSD). The JCSD will send you a statement showing how many stocks you have and the value of these stocks. This information can also be provided to you by your stock broker.

Q:   Does Capital & Credit Securities offer individual pension planning?

Q:  How much money do I need to qualify for portfolio management?

Q:  When is interest credited to my Money Management Account?

A:  Interest on the Money Management Account is accrued on the daily balance and credited monthly.

Q:  Will I be able to send money from overseas to my account at CCSL?

A:  Just wire your funds to our accounts in the USA, Canada or the U.K. Fax us the deposit slip and we will credit your account.

Q:  What is the minimum amount I need to open an investment account?

A:  Capital & Credit Securities Ltd. offers a number of investment accounts - each with its own requirement for minimum opening balance. For example: You only need J$2,000 or US$500 to open a Money Management Account; while for a Tax-Free Investment Account, the minimum is J$25,000.00. For more information about CCSL's investment accounts, minimum opening requirements and interest rates, please click here

Q:   How secure are my investments?

A:   Your funds are invested in low risk Government of Jamaica securities.

Q:   When I purchase stocks, when do I pay for them?

A:   Before you can place an order with Capital & Credit Securities Ltd. to purchase stocks, we require that you deposit funds equal to the value of the shares into an investment account. The funds will be deducted from this interest-bearing account on the settlement date, which is the transaction date plus three business days.

Q:  When I sell stocks how soon can I access the funds?
